ABOUT THE WARD

The Department of Neurology was established in 2012. Together with the Stroke Unit, it has 43 beds, including 9 under intensive neurological supervision (with access to the vital signs monitoring devices). Patients are cared for by a therapeutic team consisting of neurologists with many years of professional experience, nurses, physiotherapists, a neurological speech therapist and a psychologist. The work of the team is led by Mirosław Dziki, MD, PhD, a specialist in neurology.

We provide our patients with quick and reliable diagnostics, professional treatment and early rehabilitation. We carry out a full range of the diagnostic tests: laboratory, imaging (CT, angio-CT, MRI), ultrasound (Doppler ultrasound of the intracerebral arteries) and neurophysiological (EEG, Video/EEG, Holter EEG, EMG).

We implement the NHF drug programs: immunomodulating treatment of multiple sclerosis, treatment of dystonia with botulinum toxin and spasticity of the upper limb after stroke. The Stroke Unit provides thrombolytic treatment for ischemic stroke.

We are accredited by the Minister of Health, which entitles us to deliver specialist training of physicians in neurology, as a part of the residency. We also cooperate with the University of Rzeszów in educating physiotherapy and nursing students.

We run the neurological outpatient clinic, psychological clinic, and a diagnosis and treatment clinic for memory disorders.

We offer comprehensive diagnostics and neurological treatment of:

  • strokes and vascular syndromes of the brain
  • epilepsy, brain tumours
  • central nervous system demyelinating disorders (e.g. multiple sclerosis)
  • neuromuscular disorders
  • degenerative disorders of the brain
  • back pain syndromes
