DEPARTMENT OF ANAESTHESIOLOGY AND INTENSIVE CARE UNIT
Our anaesthesiology team consists of experienced specialists – doctors and nurses. We provide patients with comprehensive perioperative care, paying particular attention to the safety, comfort and well-being of the most seriously ill patients.
The ward consists of two units: Anaesthesiology and Intensive Therapy (7 stations equipped according to the guidelines of the National Health Fund). Anaesthesia for surgery is performed simultaneously in 3 operating rooms. In the post-anaesthesia care room, the ward personnel provides care for the patients during the time necessary to fully awaken after the surgery, circulation system stabilisation and pain relief.
The work of the team is led by Włodzimierz Wnęk, MD, PhD, specialist in anaesthesiology and intensive therapy, specialist in clinical toxicology.
The activities of the department include:
- qualifying patients for surgical procedures in the scope of general surgery, thoracic surgery and orthopaedic surgery
- applying anaesthesia, providing care for patients in the post-anaesthesia care room
- consulting intensive care patients in the hospital wards and in the Emergency Department
- consulting patients in the scope of pain relief
- applying short-term anaesthesia for examinations performed at the Computed Tomography Unit, for cardioversion and endoscopy
